Filmmaker Abraham Adeyemi and producer Abiola Rufai-Awojide are bringing audiences a heartfelt and timely story with their upcoming short film, No More Wings. This live-action short, Abraham’s directorial debut, follows childhood friends Isaac and Jude as their lives drift apart. Set in south London, the film explores adolescence, the choices that shape our futures, and the impact of gentrification on local communities.
A love letter to Abraham’s formative years in Woolwich, No More Wings has already garnered acclaim, having been selected for the Aesthetica Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival, and London Short Film Festival. Its live-action short previously won Best Narrative at Tribeca, making it Academy Award eligible, and it also received the Audience Awards at The Wrap’s Shortlist Film Festival and Encounters Film Festival.
Abraham Adeyemi, an award-winning writer and director, started his career in theatre, running sold-out productions like the semi-autobiographical one-man show ALL THE SHIT I CAN’T SAY TO MY DAD. He also runs Creative Blue Balls, a production company that platforms emerging writers for stage and screen.
Abiola Rufai-Awojide, a BFI Network Coordinator and former Channel 4 Off-Screen Talent Coordinator, has long collaborated with Abraham, producing his plays and short films and nurturing emerging talent in UK filmmaking.
Using the Script House global screenwriting award prize money, Abraham brought No More Wings to life. Following its success, he’s now developing original drama for ITV Studios along with other television and film projects.
Together, Abraham and Abiola showcase the power of storytelling rooted in personal experience, community, and the choices that define us.
