I’m thrilled to welcome back actor and acting teacher Dustin Lewis to Hellblazerbiz for another wide-ranging and thoroughly enjoyable conversation.
Dustin is a fantastic actor who also teaches the Meisner acting technique at Drama Inc in Atlanta, helping the next generation of performers develop truth, presence, and emotional authenticity in their work. His passion for the craft is evident in everything he does — both on stage and on screen.
Over the years, Dustin has appeared in an impressive slate of television shows including Sleepy Hollow, Ozark, The Resident, and more recently Cobra Kai, where he plays Mr. Palmer. We spend time talking about what makes Cobra Kai such a powerful series beyond the martial arts and nostalgia — particularly its ability to challenge judgment and remind us that everyone is fighting battles we may never see.
Our conversation also explores Dustin’s enduring love of theatre, the different demands of stage versus screen performance, and why teaching and acting feed into one another so naturally.
And then… things take a turn. We dive into Avenue Q, which somehow leads to my truly questionable impressions of Trekkie Monster, Kermit the Frog, Donald Duck, and Goofy. Consider this your official warning — but also one of the most fun moments of the episode.
Insightful, thoughtful, and unapologetically silly in all the right places, this episode is a must-listen for actors, Cobra Kaifans, and anyone who enjoys honest conversations about craft, empathy, and creativity.
