On this episode of Hellblazerbiz, I’m joined by the wonderful Rose Bianco, a classically trained actress whose career began on the stage and has come full circle in the most heartfelt way.
Originally from Chicago, Rose moved to San Francisco, where she became part of Les Nicolettes, a feminist comedy theatre troupe that helped shape her voice as a performer. It was also in San Francisco that Rose experienced one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments — heading to a comedy club and witnessing Robin Williams unexpectedly drop in and perform a full one-hour set. One of many incredible stories she shares during this conversation.
Rose continued to work extensively in theatre before stepping away from her career to raise a family. Years later, she returned to acting with renewed passion, going on to appear in a wide range of film and television projects.
Today, audiences around the world know and love her as Rosa Diaz, the warm and grounding “yaya” of Miguel Diaz, one of the central characters in the hit series Cobra Kai. We talk about what it means to play such a beloved family figure, the joy of being part of the Cobra Kai ensemble, and why the show resonates so deeply with fans of all ages. We also touch on the show’s journey from YouTube Premium to Netflix, where it found an even bigger global audience.
This episode is filled with rich storytelling, laughter, reflection, and a deep appreciation for craft, family, and second chapters. Sit back and enjoy an interview full of heart — and a celebration of a remarkable career.
