Breakout star Olivia Dudek is making a powerful first impression on the big screen, stepping into the spotlight as the leading lady and title character in the upcoming drama ANA. Written by Rafael Agustin (Jane the Virgin) and directed by José Rojas (Las Bandidas), the film is set to premiere theatrically nationwide in early 2020 — and it marks a major moment in Dudek’s rapidly rising career.
Produced by Amigo Pictures, ANA tells the story of a young Latinx woman living within a tight-knit immigrant community whose world is turned upside down when her mother is hospitalized. Faced with mounting medical bills and limited options, Ana is forced to go to extreme lengths to help save her family. It’s a deeply emotional, character-driven story — and one that demands both vulnerability and strength from its lead.
In our interview, Dudek spoke about the responsibility of carrying a film like ANA and the emotional preparation required to step into such a layered role. Working alongside writer and co-star Rafael Agustin, as well as Rocío López (Vida, Insecure), Silvia Kal (The Wolf of Wall Street, Jersey Boys), and Esther Moon (Transparent), Dudek found herself surrounded by collaborators equally committed to telling an honest and compassionate story.
Before making her mark in film, Olivia built an impressive career in dance. A highly accomplished ballerina, she studied professionally at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in New York — an experience that continues to shape her discipline, physical storytelling, and emotional expression on screen. Her early career also includes a string of high-profile national commercials, including a Super Bowl spot for Budweiser and a major Verizon campaign, among many others.
After a successful stint working in New York theatre, Dudek made the move to Los Angeles, joining Playhouse West to further hone her craft alongside seasoned industry professionals. It’s a decision that reflects her commitment to growth, preparation, and longevity as an artist.
Outside of acting, Dudek is currently working on her first book, a memoir exploring her life journey and her faith — another example of her desire to tell meaningful, personal stories across multiple creative platforms.
With ANA, Olivia Dudek delivers a debut performance filled with grace, intensity, and emotional truth. It’s the beginning of what promises to be an exciting career — one sure to charm audiences and firmly establish her as a talent to watch.
